The best candidates for nose surgery are persons who
are in good physical and mental health, who fully
understand what is involved with the procedure, and
who want to have it done for themselves.

More importantly, they have realistic expectations
about what can be accomplished.

Now surgery can improve the way you look and feel about
yourself, but it won’t change your whole life. And keep
in mind that even a modest cosmetic change involves an
operation, certain risks, and a period of recovery.

Therefore, it is important to examine your expectations
carefully as you make your decision and to discuss them
openly with the surgeon. Doing so will help ensure the

Age is also a factor when considering nose surgery.
Most surgeons prefer to delay operating until the now is
fully developed.

In girls, this usually occurs at age 16 or 17; in boys,
it’s between age 17 and 18.

Likewise, psychologists believe that by waiting until the
later years of adolescence, the person’s decision is more
